WORKSHOPDiversity & Inclusion: Barriers That are Preventing You from Creating Impactful Dialogue Within the Community

Program Qualifies for 1.75 hours CFRE Credit.
When it comes to diversifying philanthropy, few would argue that there has been too little discussion about making the sector look more like the people it serves. This interactive workshop will examine a broad range of perspectives and experiences that help shape a modern and effective philanthropic community. We will explore our involvement and investments in the community as well as different methods for practitioners, donors and volunteers to contribute and collaborate towards effective change. This workshop will also include a panel of local community leaders.

Presenters: Tiffany Jana and Kelly Chopus

Tiffany Jana, Founder and CEO of Richmond’s TMI Consulting, Inc. has orchestrated the Diversity & Inclusion firm’s growth into the world’s first Certified Benefit Corporation in its field and a global leader in social enterprise and values-based engagement. Dr. Jana is an award-winning speaker and author whose talks include a TEDx Talk on the power of privilege. She co-authored the commercially published book, Overcoming Bias: Building Authentic Relationships Across Differences.
Kelly Chopus is a social responsibility and philanthropy executive with extensive experience in strategic external relations, corporate giving and community building. She currently serves as the CEO of the Robins Foundation where she is responsible for the operations, management and grant making for the one of the region’s largest family foundations. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards, task forces and committees across the country. Most recently, she was elected to the Friends of the Family Committee of the National Center for Family Philanthropy in Washington, DC.
